Recently it has been found that the New England Compounding Center of Framingham, Mass., had supplied preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate, commonly used in spine injections, which was contaminated with a fungus.

Piedmont Orthopaedic Associates has never purchased or used any medications provided by this company. POA receives its medications from Pfizer which uses US Compounding. US Compounding quarantines their medications for a 72 hour to 1 week period and additionally performs an independent toxoid screening.

Our patients receiving injections from our offices are not at risk.
