Piedmont Orthopaedics Associates (POA) is a team of orthopaedic surgeons and
physicians in Greenville, SC who are committed to providing excellent orthopaedic
care. Our practice brings together a unique combination of 14 specialists who
work as a team and specialize in:
POA physicians are on the forefront of orthopaedic research and are constantly evaluating the most advanced tools and procedures to improve
patient experiences. The POA facilities at both Greenville locations offer on-site physical therapy with licensed physical therapists experienced in the treatment of orthopaedic
disorders. Our facilities also include a state-of-the-art MRI which affords our patients the convenience of a familiar location and staff,
and ensures the highest quality of images available today.
POA has a long history of providing quality care in the Greenville community. The
practice began in 1949 when Drs. Frank Stelling and Warren White opened the doors
of Piedmont Orthopaedics on East North Street. The practice remained at the
East North Street Location before moving to Pendleton Street in the mid 1960s.
In 1977, the practice had outgrown its original space and moved into the Grove Road office.
In 1994, the practice merged with Orthopaedic Associates of Greenville, which
had been formed in 1978 by Drs. Wayne Brady, J.K Blincow and Garland Gudger. Dr.
James Jennings, Jr. and Dr. Christopher H. Kavolus joined the practice through
this merger, and the name Piedmont Orthopaedic Associates was adopted by joining
the names of both groups. Today, POA continues to grow and evolve. In 2000, POA
moved into its new main office - an 18,000 square foot facility at 35 International Drive.
POA strives to remain "an independent practice of specialized physicians committed
to providing excellence in musculoskeletal care in the Upstate region." The independent
group practice setting has allowed the physicians to pool their knowledge, expertise,
and resources in an effort to provide excellent care to both their pediatric and
adult patients.
